Blog Rule #72: Never open with a song title from Queen.
I know, I couldn’t help it.
I just got the news from co-writer Charles Rowe: Our screenplay The Yard Sale in now a finalist in the SIP PhillyPitch screenplay pitch contest.
Charles went in person to present our two-minute pitch to the judges, and an email received today confirms that ours is one of eight out of the fifty or sixty contenders to be picked for the final round, which takes place on March 28.
We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on The Yard Sale, and have received a lot of interest in it over the past six months. This is just another indicator that we’ve struck a nerve with this screenplay.
The great thing about this contest is that, even if we don’t actually come in first, the eight finalists on average manage to snag at least one option a year. Those are odds I can deal with.
Now we’ll see how Scriptapalooza goes.
