The Publishing world is moving slower than normal these days, especially with the current economic situation taking a huge bite out of book sales (Borders just reported a 13% drop in December sales). But delayed news is still good news, and the new word is finally out on an eagerly awaited anthology that my work is slated to be included in.
The book, titled Butcher Knives & Body Counts: Essays on the Formula, Frights, and Fun of the Slasher Film, is a comprehensive collection of critical essays on various aspects of the slasher film genre and in-depth analyses of individual slasher films. Dark Scribe Press will be releasing the book later this year.
Dark Scribe Press has just announced the final confirmed list of contributing contributors, and it is a rather impressive list that just happens to include this author’s name as well. My contribution, an examination of the controversial cult hit Silent Night Deadly Night, will be sharing pages with dozens of authors, including personal favorites Jack Ketchum, Jeff Strand and John Skipp of Skipp & Spector fame.
There’s a lot of talent being poured into this project, and the amount of films and horror sub-genres they are exploring is vast (the lists of authors and films being covered can be found here). I’m very excited about this book, not only because I am in it, but because I can’t wait to read it. I’ll be sure to post more info, such as release dates and ordering information, as it becomes available.
